Here's a picture of my appearance when I was 19:
 On the left which is my avatar was when turned 37 over 3 years ago. As you can see, that was the best I could grow when I was 19. Times have sure changed it seems.  |

I think you need to sticky this "then and now" thread in this board and possibly all the other boards as well! A few other people have posted similar things, it would be great to bring them into this thread as well. A LOT of people would benefit. Facial hair takes time to develop. People who are on the younger side will find much inspiration from a thread like that.
I would think this will cut back on the questions like, "When will I be bearded? Do I have any hope?" AND provide a much better answer than we could ever write. I should add, your decision to limit the board to members only seems to have had an overall positive effect on the board. We seem to be gaining members and getting plenty of new members posting, but less of the sort of stupid posts. For a while there, I was getting so sick of hearing the same old same old questions over and over again (simple stuff like "does minoxidil affect DHT production?" from first time posters.) But they seem to have stopped about the time you made the board members only! I'm 19 and even I find this inspirational. Even those who are challenged at the age of 19 have the potential to have coverage and growth like "The Goatee King!" So my vote: sticky it! |

 I'm nineteen and I can grow a bit more than in that picture but still far from what I want. Good topic.

Did you just keep a moustache or was that all you could grow at age 17? How much facial hair could you grow at that age? I am now 17 and have full beard growth everywhere except the soul patch, where there is no hair (no exaggeration). I would appreciate it if you would tell me when this area filled in for you seeing that you are now heavily bearded. Thanks. |

 Me when I had a stache about 5 years ago:  2005:  Updated May 2006. I have buzzed my hair and have grown my beard higher on the cheeks.  |

BeardedMassuer, I swear you are the spitting image of my Uncle Jim. The beard looks great, proves that good things are definetely worth the wait. Love the cowboy hat too. I'm 27 and sport one as well. Only about 5 or 6 more days until I have the beard to accompany mine!

So Man In Black tell me do you have a twin brother and is your real name Tom? If so then you are my 27 YO nephew and we are both into this Beard Board thing. By they way my nephew Tom could grow a beard in just a few days and his mother was / is very dominating as you mentioned in the"How Old Were You" thread. Post your Then and Now photo and if you are the spitting image of my nephew we will know. Or it will just be very freaky! If you are Tom and need a "Then" photo I can scan it in for you.
Oh one other thing Man In Black... if it is you, lets keep the Beard Board thing between just us; OK! LOL

My beard history.
Here I am age 26, no facial hair, but maybe potential.  One year later. First serious facial hair; my 'tache grown while I was working in Africa (Must have been the sun that brought it out!)  )Two years later, my one year old beard grown while recovering from an accident. At least I had a hobby to keep me occupied.  Some time later I decided to shave the soul patch.  Later. Soul patch still missing.  Later still. Soul patch restored. My managerial beard.  My beard last September. Side view.  Last September. Filling in the cheeks. Day 7 approx.  December 05. Cheeks filled in. Grey wulff's senior beard.  This is by no means a complete history, but these are all the pics I have, so I can spare you my several varieties of goatee and the disastrous occasion when I shaved off my 'tache. I think it was not more than two days before I started growing it again. But since I first grew my beard I have never, ever shaved it off. An example, I hope, to other guys embarking on their first beards or starting again. |

hey, i'm almost 20 i just got here. i was reading some of the stuff on here. i can grow some, but not much. im not gonna stop trying to grow a beard by any means at all. i guess this is encouraging n all, but i would like to have a beard before im 30. Or can anyone say about when they first had a good beard but just no picture for it?
