Will I ever be able to grow a full beard?

Beard Newcomer Posts: 1 Oct 21 09 10:30 AM More My Recent Posts	Tags : None So I am 22. I have been able to grow a goatee and a mustache since I was about 18. After that my progression has really slowed down but not stopped completely. I have a full goatee and mustache and thick black wiskers on my cheeks and jawline. Every week I notice more and more wiskers coming in here and there but it seems to be filling in very randomely and slowely. From a distance it looks like my cheeks are completely bare as my wiskers are very spread out. For some reason the hair is clustered up around my lower jawline and pretty sparse on my upper cheeks and the spot where my head hair should meet my sideburns which arent really there either. This leaves me with a pretty uneven looking beard and far from a full beard. I got wiskers everywhere they should be to complete a full beard but the are not thick enough and too spaced out and thin to become a visible full beard basically clusters of wiskers surrounded by peach fuzz. My worry is that I am now 22 and I feel at this age I really should have all the facial hair I will ever get but I keep getting more little by little. Do you guys think this will ever add up to a full beard? I do think that I mature slowely as I had NO facial hair until the end of highschool. But this progression on my cheeks has been going on for almost 2 years now and has still to significantly fill in. So is there hope for me to ever have a full beard? Have you ever heard of anybody not being able to achieve this until their late 20's? Thanks and I would show you all some pics but I cant get my camera to work.

Beard Jedi Posts: 3945 Oct 21 09 10:46 AM More My Recent Posts	Given the beard you already have I feel sure you will have a fuller beard eventually. Your situation sounds perfectly normal. It is very common for a beard to keep developing into a guy's 30 and even 40's. So being in your 20's still gives plenty of time for the cheek growth to thicken up more. It sounds as though it is comming in, just not quite there yet. Maybe best to keep the stache/gpat for now until the sides are better developed. Post some pics as and when you can.

When i was living in China i could ask,, Have you ever seen people who are able to have full beard"? 90 percent Asians couldnt have full beard. They havent any hairs on chest, they have only hairs in chin-so it s 1-2 miliards people who are not able to have full beard. In my opinion when you are over 20 years it could be only very little change in your facial hairs, some great change are impossible.

We've had example after example on THIS board and the beard community site where guys claim most of their facial hair came in after 25, some didn't fill in until their 40s! Even some of the best beards, such as Santa on the beardcommunity.com site, say he didn't have any facial hair until 23! James (beardedmasseur) on this board says he didn't have much until his 40s and 50s. I personally had considerable improvement between 20 and 25. Patience shall be rewarded! Beard Legend Posts: 1422 Oct 21 09 12:47 PM More My Recent Posts	well when you are in your 20s and have some kind of growing pattern like johnny depp have then its pretty much clear that full beard will newer be possible.now if you have patches here and there then it most likely will fill in. ofc nothing is 100% sure so some guys with no growt in theyr earlye 20s still might able to get massive full beard later and those who have good beard potential at age 18 might end up with not that good beard. althought there are patterns and ways to predict how much and where you might get new growt when you are older its still not 100% sure.

Beard Friendly Posts: 10 Oct 21 09 3:06 PM More My Recent Posts	I can only speak for myself, but I didn't have any kind of "connectors" (the whiskers connecting goatee and stache area) until I was about 28 years old. I really thought there was no hope for me when it comes to connectors, but then ... they slowly started to grow. This process has not finished yet although I am already 33 now! Also, I have been able to grow sideburns and a goatee maybe since age 18 or 19, but my cheek growth was very very sparse, virtually non-existent. My cheeks are still not complete, but they have come a long way since then with only two annoying patches, one on each side of my face which will hopefully fill in during the next few years. So, I think there may be lots of hope for you also as your are ONLY 22 years old now. I guess that I had maybe 60-70 % of the whiskers I now have when I was 22.

That was not my own experience, Bragiel; my facial hair only started developing noticeably, at the sideburns, when I was nearly 18, and by the time I was 22 my beard coverage was far from complete. Only when I was about 25 was I capable of growing a respectable beard. The idea, often put about, that once you have reached 20 little or no further beard development is possible is responsible for many unnecessary anxieties among young guys of that age whose facial hair has not progressed as fast as some of their contemporaries. Truth to tell, few of them have any need to worry unless they are genetically disadvantaged or have underlying hormonal problems. The fact is that beard development progresses at different rates for different individuals, and most of those guys in their late teens and early 20s who are worrying about their lack of beard will have no cause for concern a few years on. There is plenty of evidence from members of this board to vouch for this. wulff

BeardedMasseur(page 1) & holycitybeardsociety(page 7) are prime examples
