I wonder if certain ethnic backgrounds grow facial hair better than others. I notice that it seems that a lot of african american men and hispanic men can
grow a full beard that connects rather early compared to some other ethnicities? Any thoughts? ![]()

I know that here,Lebanese people tend to be early bloomers. All of my friends can grow fully connected beards by the age of 19,I'm somehow late, but I think
when I reach the 20 y/o I will have a decent full beard.Plus In my family(father's side) people are a bit hairy,we develop connected eyebrows(kind of thick
ones) and our cheek line is eventually very high,we develop hair just under our eyelid(Some say it's a curse though,I don't know).

Well, I know a lot of native Americans don't grow much facial hair... Eastern Europeans tend to grow a lot. It's funny that you mention black men,
because most I know can't grow much on their faces...
Race is a factor, sure. It is for a lot of things. |

ummm im hispanic and i can tell you that not all of us can grow full beards, i have noticed that hispanic that have more caucasian features than other lets say
lighter olive skin, lighter eyes and hair tend to grow more than hispanics that are more indigenous looking
caucasian and blacks are the ones that can grow the most there are exceptions of course also the color of the beard matters a lot, black men have jet black beards so is very noticeable, hispanics also have black or brown beards the darker the beard the better it looks in the beginning and after a few months |

My grantfather was able to grow veeeery thick beard, he was Polish (I hope my one is gonna be like his :-D ). But not everyone in Poland can grow the beard.
But I think (statistically) a lot more than e.g. Chinese!
Arabs or Indians usuallay (of course not always) have thicker beards and more hair then Europeans. People from Far East are usually less hairy :-) Sometimes colour makes it look thicker. Because of colour of my hair (quite light) people always ask me in the mosque where do I come from hehe |

"In your family", but it doesn't mean everyone in Spain or Italy can grow a beard. Genes are very important. You have similiar beard to your
ancestors.
for example: baldness is always inherited mostly after your mother's father. |

I'm Native America and German.
Luckily I got some of the German genes when it comes to facial hair, but my brother is 31 and hasNEVER shaved, He doesn't grow any hair except for a thin stache. He also has really dark and somewhat oily skin, I think he got most of the Cherokee genes, lol. I have the face shape and the body type, and the skin for the most part, but I'm not really dark and I can grow SOME facial hair. |

I'm mostly German and Dutch, and a bit native American. So I have a pretty good shot at a full beard somewhere down the line. That and every man in my
family can grow a full beard.

I have heard that beard genetics are traced through the mother's side of DNA. So if your mom has brothers you will have their beardage. I have a beard that
looks like my Mom's brother. The gray chin is pretty much exact to his.

I think I have the beard genes from my father's side,I think I have all the hair genes from their side:D,My eyebrows connect,I have hair growing just under
my eyes,ie my cheekline will be eventually high, just my beard hasn't matured enough yet.But it certainly has accelerated in the last 6 months.

Well I have no brothers (except brother in law that I call brother), my mom has no brothers, and my grandmothers (mom side) brother died before bearding age,
great grandfather on mom's side shaved every day so never got an idea of what his beard might look like...plus I was to young to pay any attention before
he died. Anyway the only thing I have to judge by are my male cousins on my mom's side. All of my male cousin's on my mom's side come through my
mother's sisters. Anyway, they all have the sickest thick ass beards you've ever seen similar to the heaviest of bearded men on this board. I would
compare them to freebeard and dave or BC. My father has jack squat for facial hair. There goes that theory. Genes do weird things though so who knows maybe I
got skipped over with the recessive allelle super dormant gene that lands on a generation every 800 years, then goes away for another 800. Great

Well if it really does come from your mother's side of the family then I'm still good. Every man in my family history that is still living can grow a
very thick beard. Only person that ever couldn't was the one Asian man in my family and he still had a decent one.
