Beard Elite Posts: 252 (01/02/09 23:50:31) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Tags : None I am thinking about buying a beard trimmer to SHAPE(not to shave completly but trim down and shape) myself a goatee, stache and long sideburns. But so far i dont know what to choose. I think this is a good one but i dont know if it bring those things that you put on the head of the trimmer that will prevent of shaving all but will trim it down, not sure how is it called. This one is 22.99+shipping(5 dollars) the other one is 21.37+free shipping. I wonder if those 5 dollars worth it. The first one is battery operated while the second is rechargeable. However , I like the look of the guard-comb on the first one which is adjustable to several beard lengths. The only thing about these attachments, especially on the less expensive models, is that they tend to be not very robust and can easily be broken or come off if you are not careful. Some find them easy to handle, some don't. Read the reviews; they should help you make up your mind. wulff

Read the reviews; they should help you make up your mind. wulff Yea i read all of the reviews for both and seems like both have problems with what you adjust in the trimmer for the lenght(sorry i dont know how is this called in english). It would look like is hard to fit in. Well i will order the 2nd one, it would look like the quality is a bit better. Thanks paul.

Well, I didn't check the model numbers, but all the attachments are the same, and it is rechargeable. Great little trimmer. If you read the description, it also contains the adjustable trimmer guide. With my goatee, I just found one of the non-adjustable guide lengths that I liked and stuck that one on. The adjustable guide works well enough, just always check it before you use it. One time mine got bumped down to 1 and I didn't check. Bye-bye goatee. If this one dies, I am buying another one. It is a good deal.

I was kind of affraid that the adjustable guides would break but for your replies i cant see that it is quite good. Well i just ordered it, before i trim down "what i got" ill upload some pictures :P, havent touch my facial hair in 2 months and a week(3 months on the sideburns tho... lol)

I think you should pay a bit more and get something better, but the first has good adjustment and settings but the thing with 6 degrees of lenght look easy to broke, and is the only thing to use for longer trim. I personally own the first one, the cordless/battery operated beard trimmer. It was on sale for $10.00, which you can't go wrong with and the brand Wahl is quality. I've had my trimmer for a month or two now and I think it's a great trimmer, it handles well, cuts really good, has several attachment settings from 1/16" to 1/2" and is very easy to use and clean up. I purchased a trimmer a little while ago, I can't recall the brand name but it definitely wasn't Wahl and was around $30.00 and that trimmer didn't have as many length settings and gave an uneven trim. This one is very inexpensive cuts really good, gives a very even trim and am very satisfied with it. I still have the original batteries in them and it still has full power. This trimmer seems like it will last for a while but if or when it ever breaks down I'll buy the exact same trimmer. I would consider the rechargeable one but wulffpaul mentioned that he liked the look of the guide comb on the first trimmer better. I really like the guide comb also and was curious if the guide comb is basically the same on the rechargeable model as on the cordless/battery operated model. I would really appreciate if someone who knows for sure could let me know if the guide combs are the same on the two different models. Thanks!

I ordered the rechargeable one, it might ship on saturday, but i dont know if i will be able to pick it up that day so if i dont reply on saturday ill be replying on monday when i get it. @ShortyDH Thanks for the reply men, and yea ive read that is kinda hard to deal with the attachments but i might get used to it :P.

I promised you i'd tell you if the guard comb are the same and YES they are. They look different in the amazon's picture bcuz the non-rechargeable one is set in position 6 in the picture and the rechargeable's guard comb is set on position 1 on the picture so it look smaller and all that but the guard combs are the same. Personally i didnt found it hard to deal with the attachments, i learned in 5 minutes and have been taking it off and putting on to see if i know how to do it and its just easy after you put it on the 1st time.

I thought they were the same but didn't know for sure. I really like the Wahl Groomsman cordless/battery operated beard trimmer. If or when this trimmer goes I'll consider spending the extra money and get the rechargeable model. However I really do like the trimmer I have right now and the advantage of having the cordless/battery operated model over the one you have is if you were ever planning to go on vacation to Europe or something you could use the trimmer there because the trimmer you have, you couldn't use due to the different outlets/receptacles in Europe. I'm growing all my facial hair out right now so I don't use it too much now but typically I use my trimmer once or twice a week and still have the original batteries and the trimmer has full power and works great. As for the attachments/jaw line blenders, I never really use them, however when I bought the trimmer the two largest attachments went on fine and did not have a problem with. However the smallest one was a real pain in the arse to take off, not so much putting on. Other than that I really love this trimmer and wouldn't really consider anything else. Werent those attachments like to get a non-shaved-for-2-days look and so on?

The jaw line blenders can be used to achieve a non-shaved/short stubble look. However I really think it's meant for blending the hairs on your jaw line (the hairs on your cheeks with the hairs on your neck) to give it a well-groomed look so the hairs lie down and don't stick out. The three jaw line attachments, which are three different sizes, are an approximate blending length for different beard lengths. Small Attachment: is meant for blending really short trimmed beards/designer stubble. i.e. 1/16" - 1/8" (#1 - #2 guide comb setting) Medium Attachment: is meant for blending medium length beards. i.e. 1/4" - 3/8" (#3 - #4 guide comb setting) Large Attachment: is meant for blending longer length beards. i.e. 1/2" or longer (#5 - #6 guide comb setting) I only really use the adjustable length guide comb, I never really use the jaw line blenders because I'm lucky in the way that I don't have that much hair growing on my neck, lol. I only have a little bit under my chin. Unless I'm mistaken I'm pretty sure that's what the jaw line blenders are meant for. I hope this helped you out. Beard Regular Posts: 160 (01/11/09 15:08:28) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	No problem rey, Even though I mentioned the different jaw line attachments that go with a certain guide comb setting which I specified above, I would strongly advise you to use the largest/longest jaw line blender for blending your cheek and neck hair, then go to the next smallest (medium length) jaw line blender if necessary. It's better to be on the safe side, I would hate for you to screw up your beard and have to start over or be unhappy with your results. The same goes for the adjustable guide comb, make sure it's on a certain length setting before proceeding, and then switch to a shorter setting if desired. Good luck!!!
