Greetings Gentlemen! I have been reading the board over the past several weeks with great interest and have found motivation to bring my beard back. There are certainly lots of very impressive beards here, but even more inspiring is the encouraging and supportive environment found on the board. I'd like to join in the fun!
I wore a full beard through most of my early to late twenties, and kept it tamed with my beard trimmer to a uniform length. I found an old picture from 1988 (I even had hair ):
Marriage put an end to the permanent beard, but it would constantly resurface from time to time. It's been five years since my last full beard, which my wife put the kibosh on, saying "you look homeless!" I appeased her by trimming it to a circle beard and have lived under the radar for the past five years alternating with circle beards and solo mustaches (trimmed). This past fall I grew my circle beard (from clean shave) un-trimmed for 13 weeks and it again raised the ire of my wife:
Much to my dismay I trimmed the mustache shortly after this picture (she said "your mustache needs to be reduced by more than half!"). After I did that, I didn't feel the grey goatee was adding much, so went solo mustache again. Being inspired by this board, I clean-shaved 3 weeks ago (I wanted my mustache and beard length to be even) and here we are with exactly 3 weeks growth:
When I had a beard in the 80s and 90s I knew nothing about beard oil or boar brushes, but thanks to the board, I now have these in my arsenal - wow! I had also always trimmed my mustache to my upper lip (until my last circle beard). My goal is to continue bearding (may need to trim beard, but will let mustache go again) and maintain peace with the wife . I know the drill....beard on
