Here's my prediction if you shave the 'stache....wait for it.... NOBODY WILL NOTICE! or Care! except those of us on the Beard Board, 'cause we're hypersensitive to such things. In my (hypersensitive) opinion, the 'stache gives you more of "adult" look, for lack of a better word. I hate to say it makes you look older since that gives the wrong impression, but it does give it the look of somebody confident with who he is and how he looks. Stache-less gives the impression of a college kid experimenting to see how long he can let his goatee grow But to be honest, it's not a big deal either way to me and as I said, most people won't even notice or comment if you shave off the 'stache.
