Closer to brown at this point but you can still see it given the right light). My chest hair and eyebrows (which are also very thick) are dark brown almost black.. will that have any effect on beard coloration?

Indeed... your stache and soul patch are really coming on strong The chinstrap is on the way with strong sideburns and jawline hairs are a little behind that. You might want to carve to a wide chinstrap and let come in first... but it wouldn't be wrong to let everything grow another month to see what you have to work with.
I think you could bring the neckline up on the end points... in the left side picture of the undercarriage, the center point of the neckline looks good but you can see the end points drop down. Try to follow the crease between the undercarriage and neck all the way to the ears... taking off that triangle of hair on both sides.
Your pictures are perfect size... thanks for posting in your thread. Keep the updates coming every couple weeks and give the slower starters a chance to fill things in next month.

You are settling into the bearded lifestyle now and these thoughts you have and the comments from others show that your are quite ready to be bearded and that the beard is a part of you now. That, in my book, is beard acceptance... and from here on out your beard will improve and you will feel better about it. Are you getting any comments from the uni gals? Oftentimes, they are looking for a more manly guy and with your signature stache and chest hair, that's what you show. If you give a more mature sense with your words and you show some confidence wearing the beard, that will be noticed by those around you and they will take you for a 20s something guy.
Keep growing and showing... sides will continue to improve and that will just be a bonus for you. Keep the words of acceptance coming... it helps others with similar coverage to also cross the acceptance bridge.
