Is that just different sections of hairs further maturing? Also, there is one other thing to consider... that is, your eyes see exactly what is out there but your brain processes these images. As you mentally accept your beardedness, it is possible that the processing of those images changes slightly to give you a different perspective on it. I have had monovision for quite some time and it's amazing what the brain does to render 2 differently focussed images into the result needed.

Your sides are improving nicely and if you hadn't mentioned that small area still in development, I would have paid no heed to it.But since you asked... here is my professional, medically based and thoroughly researched answer... we just don't know when to expect these connections. You must make your acceptance decision based on the coverage you have now and I hope you will not wait until you have a completed beard to accept your beardedness. Your beard looks quite good at this point and I urge you to consider what you have... it is time for you to accept.

I feel like some kind of milestone has successfully been crossed. A year ago, no one would have been able to picture me with facial hair.
With good perseverence, you made this milestone and when others around you [especially family] confirm your decision to sport a beard, you are obliged to carry on with it, lest you send out mixed signals.
I like how your beard is coming in now and I like how you are helping others who have similar coverage. Keep up the good work.

It's cool that you're doing these experiments, so don't hesitate to let this beauty grow when you see that it's ready to it. I'm looking foward to your updates man, your beard is a part you for a long time and other people are already seeing that too - the future only holds more progress.

This is the mental progress that leads to beard success. It is a foreign concept to many teens that patience sometimes brings really good things and the beard is a perfect example of this for almost all teens.
