My mustache is still uneven, and my soul patch isn't enough to be visible yet...But that's old news. The only difference is now, I think I might be
able to work with my cheek line and sport more of it. One side is a bit more patchy than the other. I have better lighting in my room so you can see for
yourself. I feel kind of dirtier right now with my cheeks growing, but I'm hanging in there. You guys think both the cheekline and mustache will even out
more once by beard gains maturity? I'm a bit self conscious with my beard tonight. heh. But I'm still bearded, and always will be!

Hey Danko,
I see you're still going along without shaving, good job! It certainly looks fuller, and more natural, it is of course what you yourself prefer.. You are going to stick to the 7 weeks right? I can't stand clean shaven cheecks myself, I just let it grow out. Even if it's a bit patchy, it still makes a major difference.. Just give it a bit more time, before you make any decisions.. |

Danko, the cheeks are coming along! I think it would be even more noticeable, if not for your monstrous beard. "These things take time"... "good things come to those who wait"... "your patience shall be rewarded"... etc. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think your cheeks will thicken up as you grow them longer. You should give them more time than 7 weeks though -- 12 would be better. I agree with Bearded1,
your cheeks would stand out more if they weren't so dwarfed by the rest of your beard. Plus close-up photos always make a beard look thinner and more
flawed than it actually is. I'm sure your beard is still maturing. My own stache and soul patch took much longer than the rest of my beard to fully mature.
They only started to thicken when I was around 27 or so, and have only recently come into their fully mature state. Neither is as full or connected as I'd
like, but no beard is perfect. I can live with that.
You already have an amazing beard as is . . . don't worry about it so much. |

Thanks guys.
Sleepy - Thanks for sharing your facial hair developing history. This really does help me get a better picture of how my beard will continue to develop. I do prefer having my 'stache than not, and so I'm just hoping by the age of 30, everything ballances out a bit more. I don't mind some asymmetry, but you know, I'm just thinking by 30 my beard will have developed quite a bit more than right now at 23. I am also going to take your advice and wait 12 weeks. Thanks. Heh, sometimes we feel really self conscious about our beards, but i feel better today and you're right about how beards and 'staches always seem to show faults up close.

Danko bro,
Cheeks seem to come in last for most men. The stache can also make a late entrance. For me, in my mid 30s, the cheeks are visibly thickening. But I think you'd benefit from letting the sides grow in. You have got some serious length going! Grow on bro, grow on. |

Thaibeard - I always appreciate the encouragement, Bro. It's cool that you are now getting into the tugging length realm. You may find that you prefer
something to tug on. Then again, you may revert back to the short and trimmed beard.
I think I may be able to work with my cheeks after 12 weeks. We'll see what happens. I think I want my cheeks to be a little trimmed, but not enough to where patches really stick out. The only lengthy thing I like to have is the jawline...because I still want to keep the 'spade' shape. I'll probably stick with the 'spade' shape beard most of my life. I'm still not sure what I'll do with my mustache when it finally reaches maturity, not to mention my future soul patch. That's a while from now though.

Hey Danko...
Your beard is looking good! Your beard is already impressive especially for a young guy! How old R U? The other thing is that it will just keep on getting better! Keep on growing! I am very proud of you!

Danko, one benefit you've got in the process is that all the length of your existing beard makes any "dirtiness" in your new growth area not
noticeable. So don't get self-conscious or feel dirty about it. Your patience will be rewarded. And I know you already know that.

Looking cool, thats one heck of a beard!
I think it will look even better if you grow the 'stache out more. The benefit there is that you have good solid connectors which makes it fit well with the rest of the beard. I agree with what CaptAndy says about the new growth areas; the rest of the beard makes sure that they don't look too untidy and I'm sure it will match up well once they grow out more too. I wouldn't worry about the soul patch either; that area looks cool as it is. I have a soul patch but the hairs there and the 'stache connecters on my face are completely blond so they aren't really visible. When I had a goat+'stache beard before, I carved out the inside as the growth there was uneven at the time and I think that circle beard was pretty cool. I have a photo but its a printed copy so I can't really show you what I mean. |

Thanks for the comments guys! I have gained more bearded confidence again. I think surely by 30, I'll have complete coverage, or complete enough anyway. Of
course we all tend to pick on our beards.
BeardedMasseur - I'm 23 currently. I have been a member of this board almost as long as I have been solidly bearded. I started growing my second beard in July 2006. My original style was 'stacheless. You probably remember my chin curtain days, since you have been here longer than I have. Anyway, I'm always honored to received advice and encouragement from you because you know what it's like to be in your twenties without full coverage. Jake22 - I'm honored to receive a positive comment from a super-bearded guy in my age group! I can bring out the illusion of connectors so far, but eventually I guess my beard will develop natural connectors. In the last two pictures I took, I forgot to connect the left 'stache end to the goatee, so it looks off. heh. Anyway, this is pretty much the best I can do with my 'stache at this point. A year ago, I could hardly get my 'stache noticeable on the web cam. I can't wait until I can grow a real strong 'stache though. Anyway, this weekend I'm going to try to get a picture of the hair under my lip I think, so you guys can see the beginnings of a future soul patch. Maybe for some of you it will bring back memories. heh.
