The best thing to do is cut it up. Otherwise, just dive and enjoy and wash up later. Take a look at the 'Tips for Eating and Drinking with a Big Mustache' link in my signature below for other hints and downfalls. Cheers! Tom

It happened for me, my beard was looking pretty homely at week 7, but I hung in there. I just finished week 13 this Monday and what a huge difference from my week 11. Be patient and let nature do its thing!

It also doesn't help that I have this feeling that my boss doesn't like the beard and is soon going to ask me to clean up, I'm staring to feel a little nervous every time I sit next to him. Anyways, that's that. 13 weeks mark is close by, and for now I'm still in it.

KykidI don't know if anyone else has touched on this but I know from experience that my beard continued to grow and fill in through the years. Everyone is not the same but I hear that new beard growth will grow in the 30's, 40's and even 50's. I had a space missing between my sideburns and chin hair and it filled in over the years. It's not as thick but at least the hole filled in. But with where you are right now in time, I wouldn't get discouraged at 13 weeks if you're not satisfied, I would shoot for 4 months because I have seen a dramatic change from a man who's sides were crazy patchy and he went on to grow a really nice big beard. He's on Youtube if you want to check it out.
goyangiSorry to hear you've had a few rough beard days. I guess most new beard growers have a few of those now and again. I hope they've passed and you're back on track. If it becomes necessary to do a bit of clean-up for work, you could try giving your beard a very light surface trim to take off the stragglers. It can help your beard look a lot tidier without losing much.
