Hey. As the title suggests, I’m not new to beards, but I am new to the length I have right now. I have been growing beards on and off for about 12 years now
(shaving when jobs required), though the length never exceeded about 1 inch, and was always kept cleanly trimmed.
After leaving a part-time job in late fall, I decided to start growing a beard again (in no small part to deal with the winters here in central Ontario). A bit cliche,
but I am also a part-time woodworker at home.
I am about 13 weeks into growing my new beard, and am about 8 weeks into uncharted territory as far as length is concerned. Things seem a bit off to me.
I don’t know if it is just a case of not being used to this length, or if there is something else I should be doing with the beard. I will note that my mustache is too short. That is unfortunately due to my bad habit
of chewing on it when concentrating on a task. This was not a problem in the past, but is a habit I need to kick if I want it to grow. I also need to get the hair
on my head cut (again like the beard, I tend to let it grow in winter for warmth purposes).
Just this week I started actually drying and combing my beard stright after showers, and adding a bit of coconut oil to soften things up. I have posted a couple of pics to give a sense of where I am at. If people could give feedback on where this thing is going and what if anything I should be changing to make things look better, I am about the worst person when it comes to assessing myself on anything, so outside perspectives are always welcome. There is also the added pressure of looking for a new job again, and wanting to appear employable.
