Hello everyone!
I am brand new to the forum and thought I would make my first post.
My name is invitedcracker, that’s short for I am always invited to join my friends for holidays and family get togethers...there are of African descent.
I am 32 years old and I live in the city I moved to from the city I was born in.
I have always been a one month to two month shaver (I hate shaving). Never went too long because I can never decide on how to grown the darn thing. I start with everything for a few weeks and then shape it...then goes the mustache because it itches and flakes and it freaking hurts! I'm kinda patchy in the cheeks and until about a year ago, the sides of the soul patch area was completely bald.
I've noticed tremendous improvement in the fullness of my beard, just in the past 3 years.
It wasn't until 2 months ago I found out about beard oil and beard care being an essential part of growing a beard...no wonder mine was always so "ugly"! Had I know there was product out there to help manage it, the length would be great by now. Unfortunately, I found out while working at my current job. Don't get me wrong, I love my job, but dang...no beard? Really?
It has always been a policy to have a clean-shaven face--cannot go more than a week without shaving. Yikes!! That was okay though because my girlfriend, at the time, preferred a close shave.
Last month, the company revised the grooming policy (to take effect on 01/01/15) to state that a mustache is permissible, but beards must be “closely” groomed! Yes!!...wait...closely groomed?
Are they saying the areas I trim must be shaved closely and the growth can be limitless or the beard itself must be short?
Maybe they want me to watch it "closely" to make sure it is well groomed?
Or maybe, they mean I must get right next to the mirror to get groom "closely".
After a big long discussion, they did say it needed to be a "short" beard. To that I asked, "what is short?"
...
Long story short, it must be no longer than a quarter inch...
Okay, so no beard (mine does not look until after it exceeds 1/4"). I will take the mustache, please! Seeing as there is no length restriction on the mustache, looks like I will be growing it until the revise the policy again. HA!
Here is my 2-week mustache taken on 1/6/15 (left) followed by the 3-week mustache taken today (right).
