Hey everybody. I'm 27, a turbine mechanic by trade, and currently a student at MTSU for an Electromechanical Engineering degree. I recently finished a 6 year enlistment in the Air Force, and that means I don't have to shave anymore. I got out of the military August 25th and immediately started growing my chin goat out. I knew i had pretty patchy growth on my cheeks and sideburns, so I just kept shaving them. Four weeks ago I was looking at ways to trim up my chin when I found this site. I saw some pretty patchy beards that seemed to do well, so I thought it was time for me to just stop shaving all together. I have done nothing but comb my chin since I got out, and as of four weeks ago, the rest has been untouched except for the neck line. The right side of my jaw near the chin has a pretty epic bald spot, and my left sideburn has a bald break between it and my lower jaw. I have noticed that there are some very thin white hairs that have started to show up in the bald spots, as well as in the older growth everywhere else. I'm hoping that those smaller hairs will begin to grow and help fill out the rest, and begin to fill in the bald spots. I'm shooting for the full 13 weeks, and if it's somewhat of a success, I'll stretch that out to 6 months. Some days, I'm confident that it will fill in, and other days(most days) I'm ready to shave it off because I look like trash haha. But I'm pretty determined to let it go the full 13 weeks, and I really hated shaving everyday for the past six years. I'll start posing weekly updates to show progress, or lack of. Let me know what you guys think.
P.S. I tried everything I could to turn the photos the right way, but they were uncooperative.

Here's the two months or so of chin growth. I'm pretty happy with it. Even if the full beard is unsuccesful, this will be allowed to grow indefiniely. This pic doesn't really do the mustache justice. It's not epic by any means, but it is fairly full.

Left side patchiness with a nearly bald spot near the base of my ear.

A view of same side further away.

right side, better growth from sideburn, but an ugly bald spot near the chin.

Right side from further away.
