I have listed them below with some interesting facts and a weird connection between all of them. James A. Garfield Ulysses Grant Benjamin Harrison (Also sported a longer beard at one point) Rutherford Hayes Also while doing a little research, I noticed some weird trends amongst these names! 1. Each one of these fully bearded presidents were in the Republican Party. This next one is even crazier... 2. Each one was born in the State of Ohio. And stepping away from the full beard thing. The last president to have any facial hair was William Howard Taft in 1913, who sported a solo stache. Oddly enough, this man too was both 1. a Republican, and 2. Born in Ohio William Howard Taft Oh, and the last full beard was Benjamin Harris, listed above, in 1893. Too bad modern presidential candidates sell their souls too early in their careers to image consultants who would never allow them to wear a beard. Hopefully that will change. They believe that even if 10% of the population would vote against them for having some facial hair, then they'd rather be bare-faced. I heard that Thomas Dewey, the last major presidential nominee to have facial hair (moustache), lost because women didn't like his moustache. One other has a small mustache. And from before, only one senator has facial hair, a mustache as well. The majority of these are short mustaches, a few short goatees, only a couple short full beards. This was at the time of their photo and I think the number is even smaller today as several have shaved. He has not run for office but has suddenly gotten nationwide political attention. Whether or not one likes what he is saying or doing politically, he has a well-maintained pencil circlebeard and seems not to be dyeing it. I have not heard any media figures comment on that beard one way or another, which is a very good sign to me. Here is a link to a still photo. In one very recent television interview (Americans, if you dislike these media companies or the interviewers or the radio talk host they quote, please notice that Dr. Carson carefully and explicitly stops the interviewers from using him for their agenda of the moment, and that his independent behavior is not edited out either), he said, "I'm happy to expose any politician who rules by fear."
