Hopefully Razorburn won't mind me saying this. I've conversed with him recently on his long-ago posts proclaiming Emu and Castor oil as stimulants to his (already then) perfect beard. He basically admitted recently that he "drank the Kool-Aid" so to say. He alluded to everything he heard on the internet about emu and castor oil making hair grow where it didn't grow, ...or grow faster, ...or thicker. I recall we had a highly-suspicious characters on this board (username Essence) who seemed to add fuel to the fire.
Just about EVERYONE wants a beard to grow differently: thicker, faster or whatever. Razorburn stated the obvious: a healthy diet and lifestyle is the only answer. He's right. Eat right (lean meats and plenty of them, obtaining vitamins the natural way, etc.). Working out every day matters, too. ...and all of this not so much for beard growth, but just for common-sense, total health. You feel better, period.
So, now that I have that out of the way, I do want to re-introduce this debate.
*What about a beard that's still developing?
*What about vellus hairs that are yet to thicken and terminal hairs that look ultra thin?
*What about beard follicles yet to sprout?
We have page upon page of Minox experimentation, which concerns me a little. I took to the web last night to see if any experimentation was going on with a natural stuff BEYOND the common sense things I just talked about. What I found was actually quite intriguing. Nothing for beard, but lots of early hair loss sufferers (see both threads linked) and lots of ladies/girls trying to simply thicken their hair. What I found was fairly interesting.
This Thread (see his album link and skate over his photos -- read entire thread)
This Thread (quite humorous, too)
Youtube searches on "hair castor before after" were all female to no surprise. Some before/after pics were very profound, but who's not to say that something else (diet, different shampoo, medication started or stopped, etc. isn't the primary contributor?
At the bottom of the first-linked thread is a a series of links that may be of interest, posted by the thread's original author. I suppose I'm just a little curious after having run through all of this. One thing is for certain, however: no amount of laundry detergent or Palmolive would free a pillow cover if you were to sleep with oil on face or head! I'm intrigued by those that swear by these emu and castor oil, though. Enough to post here and ask if anyone tried for a set period of time?
As close as I get to oil is at my lawn mower. Oh yes, and fish oil tabs which I do pop daily. What do you guys think about all of this gobbilty-goo? Fact or fiction?
