I figured, hey, here's my chance- everybody else in college is going to look ridiculous this month too. And who knows, maybe it will be better than I think after the next four weeks. Anyways, here's what I've got. I'm taking a little bit of a head start (I trimmed on the closest setting about 4 days ago). I just turned 20. Any initial thoughts? It's hard to tell at 4 days, but you seem to have some promising shadow. 2-3 months and you'll really know for sure. Post updates as you go, and soak up as much beard knowledge off this site as you can. There's no better resource out there for growing a beard. It literally took 3months for my beard to get enough length where I considered myself bearded. I'd let it go and give it time, even if thats 2-3months. Many men (or at least I was) thought growing a full beard took 2-3weeks, not months.

Don't even think about touching that razor! Depending on your genes, your age and other stuff don't realistically hope for anything major without a good wait and even then if your genes don't dictate an early beard you won't get one. The best thing for you to do is just wait it out.

At the end of November you'll have a pretty good indication of what type of facial hair you're capable of , and can decide on going further from there. Check in here often , specially when you feel any doubt about keeping on growing , and you will find all the positive reinforcement you need. Good luck man.

I just wish they grew in as thick as my lower jaw and neck. How often should I post pictures? Weekly? I feel like daily would be a little overwhelming.

The bare spots on my cheeks are definitely annoying... I just wish I could have my neck beard all over my face. oh, and as you can see, i trimmed a neck line. it may be a little too low. i might trim it higher up as it gets longer. what do you think? Everyone has strong and weak areas, and for a lot of guys (myself included) the cheeks take longer to fill out. You're only 20 so you've got lots of years of development ahead of you. I'm not an expert on necklines (just carved mine for the first time last night) but yours looks good. You should leave it as is for now. Definitely keep going! Your beard will look better as it gets longer.

Keep growing and try not to be too self-critical.
