Planning to visit NYC for a few days sometime in the next month or so. Even though I lived quite near some years ago, I've only been there twice in the last 15 years or so, and cities change constantly. Have lived most of my adult life in London and know that city is full of things and places that the casual visitor often misses.
I know all the famous touristy sites and usual things, but was wondering if anyone had any favourites to suggest: cafes/restaurants, unusual stores, favorite off the beaten path neighbourhood to explore, buildings worth a diversion to see, quiet pub good for a swift half, a good market, a little known gem, something new - that kind of thing. I'm not a bar-fly, not into sports or loud music. Not really into cutting-edge trendy places that still look like slums.
Any suggestion welcome
Cheers
