I think you have managed to grow a first-class short full beard, mbt, and I think that your concerns about protruding hairs etc. stem from the fact that you are looking at it too closely in the mirror and not standing back and seeing it as others see it. In my experience few beards, except for those that are long and silky, are entirely free from a degree of fuzziness that is only discernible at very close quarters. This does diminish somewhat with length and can be controlled to some extent by surface trimming with scissors held parallel to the face, but judging from your pics you don't need to do that yet.

I recommend you go on growing for another couple of weeks or so without attempting to trim, and I think you will find the beard, and especially the moustache looking and laying down even better than it does now. When you do come to trim, do it with a beard trimmer going with the grain. Use a longish setting so as to take off minimal amounts. You will find that a light pass across the beard's surface will produce better results than a more heavy-handed approach. As for your cheek line, I think that both that and your neck line look great as they are, but if you prefer to let either of them creep a little, that's your choice.

Keep growing. Stay bearded!
