NCBeardGuy,

Thank you for stopping by and for the kind words of encouragement. Every day we bump up against reminders that Mom is no longer with us -- a favorite item that used to hang on her wall and now hangs on ours; a special dish that she always used for serving something wonderful at her house; even a renewal invoice for the newspaper that no longer needs to be delivered -- and we are grateful for those and many other happy memories of her life woven into ours. They help to temper the still-fresh sense of loss and sorrow.

It reminds us once again that we are even now weaving the memories that our daughters will carry with them as part of their heritage in our family, and how precious those big and small moments are now and will be in the future.

A month after being fired, I take no great delight in the now-official bankruptcy of my former employer. In different times, we were good friends and worked together on many interesting projects, but he made decisions in the way he conducted himself and his business that are now raining havoc upon him personally and professionally. Yes, it appears I am spared direct involvement in the chaos, but I have many friends and former colleagues who are still there and wondering what the future days, weeks, and months hold for them. I do forgive him for the way the relationship broke apart, and I consciously choose to let my anger dissolve away. Even so, I won't trust my future to working with him again, and I hope for better leadership to come out of the bankruptcy for the sake of those who still work there.
