Thank you all for your support and well wishes. I really appreciate it.

@ Don - Thank you for sharing your transplant experience. I hope your partner is doing well, too.
@ Smedstad - My sister's surgery is in the morning and mine is in the afternoon. We both have a 6-8 week recovery period after that.
@ Geoff - I am fortunate to have such a good match. My blood type is O+ and my sister is O-. Both of my parents are A+ and my other siblings are all A blood types. In any case a living donor, and close match means less chance of rejection, a healthier, longer lasting kidney and a better success rate overall. As I'm already 42, it's quite possible that this transplant will last me the rest of my life (touch wood).
@ LVG - I should have time during my recovery to post updates periodically. I am slated to spend about a week in hospital after the operation. Following that I will be going to the hospital twice a week for a two month period as they monitor my situation and adjust medications. As to my family, they have been extremely supportive of my situation since it presented itself about 4 years ago. I had never been sick with kidney issues previously and the entire thing was a real shock.
@ Andy - It will be great to be free of dialysis. I am hoping that a transplant will also help me feel more energetic and less tired. Fatigue is often an issue with long term dialysis.
@ Tom - I think my sister is actually more excited about the transplant than I am. She is so happy to be able to help me. To be honest, her whole attitude has made the situation easier for me. A part of me feels bad that someone has to go through all of this because of me, but I know she really wants to. I would definitely do the same for her if the situation were reversed.
