Thanks, Bob!  I'm not sure whether I qualify for master status in either, but I certainly enjoy them both.

Thank you too, Beardson!  My wife was cracking jokes as she was shooting the photos.  It smiling is a lot easier when you're not the one taking the picture!

I'll definitely give my hammer-wielding beard buddy a call if I have any beard-bully problems, Dirk

Yeah, Dominik, I've no doubt he'd pound 'em to a pulp!  And, yes, since I quit tapering the sides it's gotten bit wider, and I like it!

Thank you, JNC!  Yes, I'm on the West Coast, in Oregon.  It's been a relatively mild, and thankfully wet, winter and things are very green right now.

HA!  Well, BW, I'll say the same thing my wife said to me years ago when I asked her to knit me a scarf (we'd just moved to Boston, MA for a sabbatical at MIT), "Get in line, buddy!"  That, of course, is when I learned to knit.  Shall I teach you?

It's my pleasure, Joris,  I wouldn't do it if I didn't like it and think it worthwhile.  Thank you.

Trick, life is sweet, very sweet, and wearing a big beard just seems, for some strange reason, to make it moreso.  Thank you.

Thank you, marton and Anthony!  As I said to Beardson, it's a lot easier to smile when I'm not holding the camera.  I will say, though, that that picture is pretty typical of me, I think.

Dave, man, you are prescient.  I was just complaining the other day that on this new project I'm knitting my beard keeps getting caught in the needles!  It would  help, I suppose, I I weren't to vain to use glasses  Thank you, sir!

Thank you, Marty!  That sweater was quite the project but I am thrilled with it.  And, yes, I think it compliments my beard well, too.

So, as you guys may have seen in other threads, I had the pleasure to meet up with Wannabe Beard for lunch at a local brewery last Friday.  We had a wonderful time getting to know one another and, of course, talking about beards.  Since he lives so close, and I get to Portland fairly often, I can see this becoming a regular event!  Those grey stripes in his beard look even more striking in person, by the way.
