Oh c'mon Kenny, you've seen me drink a martini before.  I got at least a third of it in my mouth  Something tells me that if you want a grey wave cresting your sweater you only need stay out of that barber chair for a few months smiley: wink

Thanks for that, DoNTMOV3!  As smedstad noted, anyone who's been on this board long enough knows that I do enjoy them.

Yeah, smedstad, you knew there's no way I'd pass up that opportunity  Thanks for the comment on the sweater, too!  It's a very easy pattern.

I'm sure it was after 5 pm where you live, Trick.  smiley: smokin

Thanks, bb!  The color in that sweater comes from using a variegated yarn, so the yarn does all the work

Whodi, good to see you here, sir!  Thank you for that.  Yeah, the beard, or pet badger as a colleague at work calls it, has grown a tad in the past few years..........

Dirk, you're quite the flatter, aren't you smiley: embarassed.  Now you know where I get it, Trick   Thank you!

Hey, Supercuno, thank you and thank you for stopping by!  Time-wise I've been at this for a bit over three years now, but I kept it trimmed short for the first six months.  Length-wise, as it lays in this photo, it's about 14 inches (36 cm) but its so curly that if I stretch it it goes to 17 inches (43 cm).

-------------------------------------------

A couple of interesting things happened beard-wise this week.  First, for those of you who are Harry Potter fans like me, I posted that photo with the martini in a bearded knitters group I belong to on Facebook.  One of the guys replied with one of the best compliments I've ever had.  He said, "If I had a Patronus it would be you." smiley: happy

Also on Facebook, the following photo popped up as a memory to share.  It was taken when my beard was a mere 1 month old and I had just returned from my first visit to Cory, the man who would become my trusted barber.  Wow, that was a lot of hair, a lot of very grey hair, ago!  So, in honor of Throwback Thursday........

As you might imagine, the comments from my fellow beardos there said it was way too short back then (except for Kenny, who made a quip about my hirsute sister ), but most of my shaved and female friends said they preferred it short.  Oh well.  I've no intention of going back.

Cheers!
Tom
