Merry Christmas to all from snowy Nevada! We have a thoroughly white Christmas with more snow so far this year than we had all of last year.

For the past few months I have been spending a great deal of time helping my 93-year-old mom move into and adjust to a senior living facility of her choosing. She has declined markedly since and requires our help two and three times a day. As a consequence, I have stepped down as a moderator, but I do hope to be more active on the Beard Board again in the New Year.

I've found a new full-bearded barber who is doing a great job with my beard and hair. Turns out Jeremy Root-Ferguson of the East 50 Barber Shop and Shave Parlor in Carson City is also the barber for a few of this year's winners of the Nevada Day Beard Contest. I'll post some pictures of him after the next trim.

Jeremy has shaped my beard nicely, taking off wispy ends and shortening it almost five inches! Even so, it's still at least six inches long, and most people think it looks fuller.

(Just a dusting... in a duster.)

As I was getting a morning beverage at the drive-through last week, I became aware of a group of middle-school boys walking through the parking lot making quite a commotion. They were pointing and yelling to each other, "Hey, look! Santa's at Starbucks!" Yes, I was wearing a bright red shirt that day.

Speaking of "red," Admiral Red Beard sent me a sample of his overnight Beard Boost product, and I really like the results. I also like his Bay Rum Beard Tamer Styling Balm that I bought last month.

Best wishes to everyone for a safe and restful year's end.
