One of the interesting things I've noticed during this journey of mine is how my views of facial hair have changed. When I first started growing around June (and cutting the sides off), I had very much subscribed to the "only grow what's complete" mindset. And in a certain sense that's reasonable. Even on this board, there's the "Maximizing What You Have" page.

But now, the more I've gone without shaving, the more I've come to sort of dislike shaving. Certainly, hygiene and presentability are important (hence trimming when necessary), but in so many ways I've come to see shaving as an unnecessary social construct that we, as a society, impose on ourselves simply because people "expect it." I've been given a little bit of grief, in good fun, by my dad (who subscribes to the "only grow what's completely developed" idea), but the more I've let my face do its thing, even in its incomplete stages, the more I've enjoyed this little "cooperation with nature," giving my facial hair "free rein" over my face.
