One soap to lather them all!
I’m reviewing the
Klar's Haar- und Körperseife Bergamotte, 250g
This chunky soap on a cord comes in at moderate 19.99 €, if you order directly at the online shop (
http://www.klarseifen.de
). Klar are Germanys oldest soap makers (since 1840) and while there are some who sell their soaps on
amazon.com
, I haven’t found that particular soap being sold there. So you probably have to go to their store and pay the hefty shipping costs, if you absolutely want to try it outside the EU.
I’m guilty of some stupid actions like this myself, because I recently ordered a batch from the US, ah well…
Anyway, Klar know what they’re doing and this soap clearly represents it. It does well in all compartments, but lacks a bit of the bing bong. Actually I should use it as a reference product, despite having nothing glamorous to show off.
Lately I like the all in one soap concept. Grab a bar and hit the shower. Nothing complicated here. Just use it for all body parts. That soap clearly falls into that category, since it is clearly made for washing the hair as well.
The ingredients are all natural, but not all are organic:
Sodium Olivate, Aqua (Water), Parfum (Fragrance)*, Sodium Chloride, Glycerin, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate, Hydrolized Wheat Protein, D-Limonene*, Linalool*, Citral*, CI 77891
*organic
CI 77981 stands for Titan(IV) oxide and that is apparently natural as well. However, I do not fancy this that much.
The wheat protein is a nice touch as it makes for a soft hair - according to my haircutter. However it makes also for a very sticky soap. This soap is a hair magnet. No matter what you do, this soap finds them and binds them.
Also, don’t get it near your eyes, as this stuff stings. After usage, I hang it up to try and the water dripping down used for additional unnecessary waste of soap, Also the bottom stays wet and soft longer as the top apparently.
Well, this soap ticks all the boxes, price (very low), quality, foam, smell, etc., you name it, but doesn’t excel at any. I found the smell not very bergamot-y, more boring-y for my taste, as I love the smell of bergamot (Earl Grey tea).
Very likely I will purchase more of it with different smells (grapefruit), since it is not very pricey - 8 € for 100 g and I always had great results, soft skin, great hair and beard.
Pros
: Fair price, great results, wheat protein for soft hair
Cons
: Sticky, stinging, a bit boring
Bing Bong-Factor
: 4.2
Despite great results and likely more purchases in the future a strange bing bong rating at 4.2?
Yes, since 4 seemed to low and 4.5 too high. Just a nice scent would make this soap a winner at a 4.8 rating most likely.

Same story, but at a different angle - not on JeffF's
