Grateful that the Sheriff is back on the investigative trail. It doesn't surprise me that the rascal RiffRaff is working under cover of darkness and plying his nefarious craft underground. Thank you for sharing the progress so far.

I do need to speak with the Sheriff at some point. You mentioned he was muttering about sabotage, but I have a suspicion that something less sinister but equally devastating may have occurred.

Preliminary analysis of the surviving telemetry logs from the airborne vehicle indicate that frost had been developing on the submersible portion when the altitude anomaly occurred during the transit over the Rocky Mountains. The rapid descent into warmer air also caused a rapid re-compression of some components that had gotten colder than the design specifications for a submersible vehicle. This may have caused a weakness in some critical component, still unidentified. Such are the risks of creating a hybrid.

I am still puzzled by the "RR" at the end of the Morse-coded rescue message back in my thread. The header ID of the message had been deliberately obscured, and it's origin is still a mystery. If the disaster at sea WAS actually sabotage and RiffRaff was involved, why would he then send a clue about where to find the Sheriff? If it was just a catastrophic mechanical failure, it would then seem that RiffRaff WANTED the Sheriff to make it to Germany after all. Very curious indeed.

And who told Captain MetalBeard about the rescue location? Dantes, you were still away on vacation when this happened, and the Sea Cow was already underway to Corvo to pick up the Sheriff when you got back. Curiouser and curiouser.
