Your beard looks wonderful and you know how to handle and take care of it, so you don't need advice.
If you want to give it a "neat" look, try to trim it into a spike like form

It looks very professional and unique, and if you need to, get some kind of beard balm or wax. Using these can help with the form, and they often smell manly and good. 
(you can make your own by using beeswax, vaseline and essential oils for the smell.
And don't worry about the cheeks; they will come
