This is terrible news, and I have been checking all afternoon to verify the data, hoping against hope that this wasn't true.

All contact with LEGO-Sheriff Triibeard and the submersible has been lost. The last telemetry from the ship indicates a catastrophic failure of multiple systems suggesting that the vehicle broke up underwater or was crushed at depth.

No further communication with the Sheriff or the submersible has been received since between 3:00 and 4:00 PM, Pacific Time, Saturday, August 8, 2015. The last data on the GCX-750 confirm that all of the on-board operational and life-support systems on the submersible failed within seconds of each other, confirming that a sudden and catastrophic failure occurred, destroying the vehicle. It is unknown if the Sheriff was able to take emergency measures to preserve life in the moments before the disaster struck.

SYSTEMS STATUS TELEMETRY
HYDRAULIC FAILURE OFFLINE
PNEUMATIC FAILURE OFFLINE
MECHANICAL FAILURE OFFLINE
ELECTRICAL FAILURE OFFLINE
POWER FAILURE OFFLINE
AERONAUTICAL ALOFT ONLINE

The only system still reporting is the aerial vehicle that carried him over the continent to the ocean. It is being directed to observe the sea surface and report any debris or emergency signals. So far, nothing has been detected.

I will continue to monitor the situation and report on any new developments.
