This morning before I left for work, the conversation coming from the workshop was all about wind conditions about to change, and a storm system moving through by tomorrow, and needing to finish final testing. Throughout the day, LEGO-Sheriff Triibeard and the master builder crew must have worked quickly to fully assemble the airborne submersible and suspend it from a mass of helium balloons (How did they get those on there? -- Just one of those balloons could carry a little guy off into the stratosphere if it got away!).

I got home and into the backyard in barely enough time to see him launch into the air and practically buzz the hair off the top of my head as he headed off with the eastward zephyrs that develop most afternoons around here.

I was so startled I could hardly focus my cellphone camera to get any shots. I was only able to get this last shot as he headed off toward the eastern horizon. That amazing vehicle climbed into the warm, summer twilight and was out of sight in a matter of moments.

When I turned to go inside, the master builder crew was nowhere to be seen, and I haven't seen a trace of them since. I'm sure there wasn't enough room for them to be aboard. About an hour later, my cell phone rang, and it was the Sheriff himself, "Follow my progress on the GCX. I will send updates along the way." And he signed off with a hearty, "Auf Wiedersehen." I went over to the GCX-750 and saw the route he intends to take to get to Germany. It looks like he will be airborne across the continental United States, then launch the submersible into the Atlantic near Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

As updates come in, I will gladly post them here for everyone to follow along on his journey.
