A mountain of shipping crates began arriving a couple of days ago for LEGO-Sheriff Triibeard, even though he hasn't actually arrived back from his visit to The Bearded Orchid Greenhouses (The BOG) and Tom E in Oregon. These crates seem to contain some high-tech aeronautical and oceanographic equipment.

Today a LEGO master builder arrived and began assembling what looks like a custom-designed small submarine or submersible vehicle.

This is quite puzzling, because Carson City is in the Great Basin of western North America. This physiographic feature encompasses most of Nevada and nearly half of Utah including the Great Salt Lake and even beautiful Lake Tahoe. Because of surrounding mountain ranges, none of the rivers in the Great Basin ever reach an ocean -- they just wander out into the desert and evaporate in broad low areas called sinks. If the little Sheriff is going to get to Germany in a sub, he won't make it by launching into any of the rivers or lakes in these parts. But I'm sure he knows that.
