Well, the Sheriff has been making himself at home in my orchid library for several days, trying to sort out the Disa correlation to RiffRaff's escapades.  I heard some noise down there yesterday, along with a shout of 'Eureka' and found him pulling out my book on Disas.

He opened it up and, quite gleefully, showed me the following diagram to support his assertion that the flower was wilting because the pollen was removed, not because of the heat (though as you can see in the prior post it's been scorching here!):

"Now," he said, "I simply have to figure out the connection.  I've been running samples remotely while I've been here and it just doesn't add up, yet.  Do you have any old prints of a Disa, similar to the one I landed on when I arrived?  RiffRaff must be on to something here!"

"No, I don't have any Disa prints, but I'm sure we can find one online."  So, off we went to the office where I searched and, sure enough, one popped up immediately and the Sheriff quickly ran over to check it out, exclaiming "Eureka!" once again:

"Look, look, it's from the 'Reichenbachia' series, same as the one I landed on!  This is it, this is the clue I needed!"

I must have looked more dumbfounded than usual because he then, in his more stentorian voice, asked me to search for Heinrich Rechenbach, the series' author.  No sooner was his Wikipedia page up than the Sheriff scooted over.

"Look, look here young man, he did his doctoral work studying orchid pollen!"

"I must get to the Reichenbach herbarium in northern Germany before RiffRaff does!"

"Um, I think you may be a little late.  Check out this post that dantes made in his thread yesterday"

"Great jumping jehosaphat, I must be off immediately!  Besides, I'm tired of this heat!"

And with that he packed his bags and sped away.
