There are a few things that you can do to help maintain it. When it comes to washing try to avoid commercial shampoos and conditioners. Many have chemicals that can over strip and dry out the beard. Many of us use natural soaps, ie. Dr Bronner's or pine tar soap. and only wash our beards once or twice a week.
If you are not using an oil yet, you can start that as well. You don't need an expensive beard oil. Any good natural plant or nut oil will work like coconut, jojoba, argon or avocado etc. Just rub in a few drops daily and that will keep it well moisturized. The most important thing you can do is periodically go out and howl at the moon.
