I was recently asked to test and review the beard oil line-up from Franklin and Whitman, pictured here:

All the oils have the same basic carrier formulation but differ in scent or essential oils.  I found that for a beard my size I needed about 10 drops to get uniform coverage and applied the oil immediately after a shower when my beard had been towel-dried.

As far as performance goes, I found these to be exceptional and far preferred them to straight jojoba oil (my usual daily oil).  They left my beard much softer and easier to comb than pure jojoba oil and I had far less hair breakage.   The color is pale yellow but even with my white/grey beard I saw no residual color from the oil.

When it comes to scent less is better in my book and these oils were far more subtly perfumed than many I've tried.  Basically, I want to smell my food and my wine, not my beard (though not my food and wine in my beard, mind you).  I applied these in the morning and they were pleasantly aromatic but the fragrance in all but the Bella Vista dissipated during the day, a definite plus in my book!  The Bella Vista has a distinct camphor/eucalyptus scent that I liked but my wife could still smell it the next morning, and that was not a success.

All in all, I can highly recommend these oils.  In addition to their excellent performance, another positive is that 5% of all sales, not just profit but sales, go to support dog rescue charities.  You can get them at the following website:

They are currently offering $10 off your first order.  Just use the coupon code BeardBoard10.

Cheers!
