Hey Luke. Just saw your trim update. I have to say I am impressed with the look. I'll have to keep it in mind if I decide to trim back at some point. I think having it long on the sides distracts from the short bit in the front. Congrats!!

As for the beard balm attempts, please keep your results coming. I am interested in attempting at some point as well. I purchased a tin of beard balm from Dan that was 30ml/1oz. He also sent me a sample of another scent that was maybe 15ml/.5oz. Am not sure if it is a variation of the homemade product or the packaing size or just living in the desert but the larger 30ml package is considerably "harder" than the 15ml. Trying to two, I find I like the softer/creamier consistency better. More like a firm oil if you will. I've enjoyed mixing up oil but have not tried balm at this point as it seems more difficult to get right. Love seeing your experiments!

Cheers!

Thanks brother! As long as some of you are interested, I'll keep the results coming. I can walk you through the entire process I went through, if you'd like. The balm I did with just coconut and peppermint melts VERY easy...and doesn't really hold. I think the melting point of coconut oil is 76 degrees so I consider that more of an oil anyways. This "cut-yo-grass" flavored balm is very firm. I'm getting some mustache wax from Dan along with the balms, so I'm interested to see the consistency of everything.

Cut-yo-grass balm...that wouldn't be a good name for a "beard" balmĀ image

In 1567, Hans Steininger, the burgomaster of Braunau (then Bavaria, now Austria), died when he broke his neck by tripping over his own beard. The beard, which was 4.5 feet (1.4 m) long at the time, was usually kept rolled up in a leather pouch. --source (Beard Responsibly, my friends)
