This review is cross posted from the dedicated thread I started to inquire about it, but I figured I'd add it to the repository here:

I've been using the Stately Beard Co. Cedar Falls Beard Balm for two weeks now so I figured I'd provide my updated thoughts on the product. Keeping in mind that this is qualified by the fact that this is the first beard balm I've ever used, I have to say that I'm really pleased with pretty much everything about it.

I used about a large kidney bean size every morning, worked though my slightly damp beard from the underside nearest to the skin then outward toward the ends. I also use it on my moustache (I also tried Stately's moustache wax, but don't really care for the scent and find that the balm provides enough hold for a natural look). In two weeks I've noticed that my beard is definitely softer and I'm able to get it to hold its style with less effort. It still has a tendency to feel dry toward the end of the day, depending on what the humidity is, but overall I feel that it has been a big improvement. At first I even thought I was losing fewer hairs to the sink as a result of not needing to style it as much with the oil/wax combination I had been using, but that's still up for debate. It does leave a slightly filmy coating on my beard but I like that as I feel its necessary to hold the style I wear, and it does dissipate throughout the day

I absolutely love the scent (its clean and pleasant yet just a touch woodsy) and its strong enough that it stays with me for most of the day (but its not overpowering). If there is a negative, the only one that I can find is that it includes grapeseed oil its ingredient list, which as I understand doesn't have the shelf-life of some other oils so a tin of this might not last as long as some other balms if you use it sparingly, but that is just speculation. I'll never know because I tend to use quite a bit for my length beard - after two weeks my tin is half empty. (I've since been informed by another user than his supply is still good after over a year so perhaps my concern in unwarranted).

As of writing this, it appears that Stately Beard Co. no longer sells directly from its website, but now only through Amazon sellers - which I'm less enthused about since you don't know how long they have had the product on their shelves, but as Stately appears to be a small operation I would assume that the quantities Mike makes are fairly small and therefore the product will generally be fresh.
