And here we are. 4th month. Who knew? Thanks everyone that supported my insecure days at the beginning of the journey.
Well, not much have changed, since I updated on week 15, I just wanted to mark the 4th month with an update, from now on I think I will keep it monthly.
But there are some reflections on this milestone, which I would like to address by subject:
Wife: so, my wife seems each day more in to it. She still doesn’t like to kiss the mustache, but she is seeing it as part of my look, kind of like she is already accepting me as a bearded man. Other day I went to buy a sunglass, after trying some, she liked one and said: "this one looks cool with your mustache and the beard". It seems so simple, but means so much to me. Yesterday I went to get a hair cut, my wife with me. Then I said that next time I would probably ask for a beard trim, and then we talk a little bit about the length. She doesn't seems to oppose any plans that I have, but I said that I would probably ask for a medium to short trim, to even things a little bit, and then let it grow again. She said that it sounds good. I don't know if she doesn't realize but that seems a long time commitment with the beard, and she is ok. Things going well in this subject.
Bad habits: I could stop, or at least minimize, the reaching for the scissor thing. The mustache had some cuts, but I think its ok. The picking on hairs still seems difficult to stop, although I am aware of the habit and trying to control it. Things not so good in this subject.
Grooming: So grooming has been difficult, especially the mustache. But using the hairdryer helps a lot. The thing is that I don't like to spend that time and effort with hairdryer every time. To control the sides I use a brush to comb the hair down with the hairdryer blowing from upwards. It works; I am just concern if it would not start to affect my skin, since the face skin seems to be more sensitive then the sculp. For the mustache, hairdryer as well. It is really getting on the way for eating, so it is annoying and I bet it is not easy for the wife either. Today we went to a restaurant for Easter lunch, and I decide to groom the mustache high enough so it would get out of the way. So I used the Firehouse wax and then hairdryer, it works very well, a mess less meal!! Wife love it.
That is it, uploading pictures...
This is the wax that I used today, it is a strong wax. So my lips are almost all cleared.
My First beard Journey, at age 33.
