Well, in response to the OP, after trying out different products like Honest Amish, Grandpa's pine tar soap, shampoo & conditioner, I have actually returned to the old way of care and maintenance. To be honest, I have not noticed any difference. I have concluded that keeping your beard clean & combing it when needed and maintaining a healthy diet is sufficient for a healthy beard. Hand made combs like Kent help prevent ripping and breakage. Depending on the "look" you may want, e.g. high gloss, etc., conditioners and other product may be beneficial. Just my humble opinion.
