A beard needs time and length to fill in properly. If you don't let it get longer and let the hairs overlap, then you will have a hard time allowing it to cover. Many guys can get away with sporting a 3 month beard (or 4 month beard) in a professional environment. It's up to you, but I'd let it grow out and fill in more.
