It was not long ago when ANY type of beard would be considered a female-repellent by many. Of course even then there were always exceptions, as some women have always liked beards even when beards were not mainstream.

Many people are simply very shallow and think that any guy that goes for look outside of the norm is going to repel potential mates. Of course, to a degree that is true. You may limit your potential dating pool by weeding out those girls that are very image-focused or might be embarrassed to have a boyfriend with a massive beard. Even though going out with a guy with a huge beard may not have the stigma it once had, in many circles it would still be considered extreme. And this does not just apply to big beards. A solo-mustache or other style you don't see often in young guys might elicit this type of response.

So what you need to decide for yourself is if it is worth it to limit your pool. On the plus side, you may find a woman that has a lot more substance, cares more about what's on the inside that on the outside, or simply likes the fact that you look very rugged or manly. On the downside, you may have to work harder to find dates. If it is very important to you to date as much and as often as possible, then the beard will have to be trimmed to a "normal" length and you'll need to keep it tidy. If your big-beard image is important, then stop worrying. Confidence, without arrogance, is a highly attractive quality in and of itself. In other words, if you are confident with your look, you will do fine.

Patience shall be rewarded!
