Hey Peter, welcome!
I think you have the foundations for a very good beard. Right now, things may seem patchy and thin, but in time, you will see everything develop and fill out. First of all - you already have a nice high cheekline - horizontally level with the mustache - and there seems to already be good development of the connector areas as well. This usually makes for good coverage, even if the density is still uncertain. Lots of hairs are slower growers - especially in red beards - and may only show up after the currently visible hairs are much longer. You owe it to yourself (and everyone around you, this board's members included) to grow out your beard for 3-4 months (13 weeks minimum) before deciding what potentail you really have.
Also, time is your friend. Your beard follicles will continue to develop for many years to come.
You are going to look like a real Viking with that hair and a ginger beard. Please grow it out.
Looking forward to your updates
