You definitely have to do some research before you jump into any products.  I picked up a can of Murray's pomade, which can be found in the "ethnic" section of the hair care products.  It's supposed to provide a very strong hold for out of control hair.  I figured it would be pretty good to keep my mustache in check, because that's the strongest area of my facial hair and gets a mind of it's own after a couple of months.

It worked amazingly, but for one big reason - it's petroleum based.  I didn't really pay attention, so it was basically slathering vaseline in my facial hair.  It holds great, but God help you if you want to wash it out, and don't you dare try running a comb through it, unless you want a comb full of petroleum jelly.

So yeah, it's definitely worth looking into, but make sure you know what the consequences might be for each product.
