"I have red hair so I've always been a little bit apprehensive about growing out my facial hair becuase it looks so sparse to me and the mustache is so blonde it doesn't even look like its there from far away. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how I could make my mustache look a little more prominent or thick, even if I cant do that until the end. Also, I have no idea what style of beard would look good on me, so I'd like to ask all of you for some help on finding a good one that suits my face and haircolor.

Other than that I just had a few questions on how to make it look good during these months that I let it grow. My mustache kinda sticks up every which way and I cant get it to just lay flat. Is there anything I can do to fix that? Also It's incredibly itchy and resembles steel wool to me, what are some good methods at making it softer?"

Just keep on with it!  Three weeks isn't a fair place to make any judgment.  Give it a go for three months and I'm sort of thinking you're going to have a fine beard and 'stache.  I'm probably rooting for you partially because ginger beards are my absolute favorite and from your beginning progress I have a feeling you are going to do well.

The biggest thing that's going to help your beard and mustache is just letting it grow.  Added length in both the beard and the 'stache will go a long way in making it look good.  However, there's no "magic bullet" to make it sprout faster. Unfortunately, the state of a beard in its first growing stage may look a bit untidy but if you want a beard you have to just work through that and accept that it's only temporary and that you're going to have a fine ginger beard. Jojoba oil will help with the texture and making it a bit more manageable.  Do keep up with it.  It's worth the wait.

Using an oil for beards such as jojoba may help with the texture and make it more manageable.
