Truman, your beard looks great trimmed, and I am sure it would look even better with more length. Big beard and great hair, why would you want to trim? So do not trim, explore its potential. BTW, most flaws we see in the mirror disappear with length.

If you do what I did, I set myself no real goals and just let it grow for the only purpose to see what it would look like with more length. Every time I thought I wanted to trim, I just asked myself what would it look like with more length. I knew what shorter looked like, but longer was a new territory. That gave me a reason to keep growing. I ended up at a year and decided then to do a small trim.

Some guys do better with a specific time frame as a goal. Since you have given in to the trimmer on previous trips to a longer beard, maybe you need to be more specific with your goals, and don't forget about the 48 hour rule.
