I understand your trepidation. When I started growing my beard I was unpleasantly surprised both by the amount of grey in it and the contrast with my mustache (which, like yours, is pretty much brown). As it grew in, though, I came to really appreciate the variegation and the texture differences and the pattern and, ultimately, that it was my beard. I love it now! I am clearly biased, but grey beards are awesome!

Basically, if you want to make it look less grey the only recourse you have is to dye it. That's not a bad option - lots of guys do it - but it required regular maintenance to maintain it.

Either way, I encourage you to grow your beard and see and feel what it's like to wear one. It's a wonderful experience! Once it's grown out for a while you can decide whether or not you like its coloration and deal with that accordingly.
