You should take pride in your beard and you have done an excellent job with it! As far as I can see, you have already established yourself as a full bearded man. You say you want to grow longer? If you won't have a professional job for another year, then you might take the opportunity to grow now while you have the chance. Full beards such as yours are acceptable in the workplace, but, yes, a neckline would help keep it professional looking and when you get hired for a job, you'll know what will be acceptable. So, if you have the time now, and decide you want to do it while you have the time, there won't be an issue. However, now that I have said this, if you grow it out, there will be a point in time that you will have to pull it back down for interviews, depending upon what kind of job you will be seeking. So, if you have the time, give it some thought. If you want to keep it professional, then keep the neckline. It's totally up to you.  As to length, I doubt it will look weird when it gets longer.  Length usually makes a beard look better.
