Red, first of all, you have nothing to be self-conscious about with your beard. It looks great and, based on the way you groom it, I'm certain that you comport yourself well with it.

Please keep in mind that when people behave as you described their actions speak solely of them and not of you. Perhaps you were the impetus for their reaction, perhaps you weren't, it's almost irrelevant. If you are comfortable with your beard, as I think you should be, then that's what matters.

Next time you're wondering whether someone likes your beard, ask your son, he certainly seems to approve, and I'd bet his opinion matters more to you than some stranger's.
