Walkman,

That is a great 8-week beard. You have the pattern and density to style that just about way you like. Looks like you are comfortable with trimming your neck and cheek lines. If you grow longer, you can gradually raise the cheeklines and lower the neckline to support the larger beard's appearance.

The Verdi examples I've seen have an upturned stache, so you will want to let your moustache grow untrimmed for quite a while to get that result. You may find it annoys the daylights out of you -- eating, drinking, and intimacy are all affected -- but eventually it will behave and the visual results are worth it.

You've been on the Board longer than I have, but if you haven't seen it, look at the Beard Journey thread by Tom E for just one example of the results of perseverance. Your beard may be similar to his. You probably already know that Smedstad and KPLandes are full of encouragement for the longer stache. All of us will cheer you on to achieve the beard you desire.
Thanks, Triibeard!  I plan to let the neckline drop gradually as my beard gets longer and may go to a natural cheek line eventually as well.  I've been trying to keep it "corporately constrained" as I grow it out.

The Verdi style varies quite a bit on the internet, but it does usually have an upturned mustache as you mentioned. I agree it's a great look, but I'm a little worried that I will be constantly messing with it for fear that one side has dropped.  I think I might make that the last stage of the project.  I've noticed Smedsted and KPLandes great 'staches and posts.  I'm not sure if I've seen Tom E's thread or not.  I'll go take a look at it.

I joined the board back in 2011, but have gone through periods where I didn't get to visit much.  I didn't post very often until recently, but have always been impressed with the great camaraderie, support, and beards here.  I'm glad to see all the young guys on the board as well.  I wish it had been around when I was that age.
