Hi Walkman, you have beautiful beard, enviable full growth under the lower lip and I like how you have shaped it, I am not sure how Verdi style looks like, I googled it and saw all kinds of beards, but the composer had a great beard, are we referring to how you have shaped the cheek and will the chin beard get a bit longer ? Another thing, your beard is darker on the avatar, is the pic much older or did you use beard dye? I have nothing agains dye, but the color of you current beard is superb.

Thanks for the compliments, Birdbeard!  My kids always like it when I grow my beard out, but my wife isn't a fan.  She thinks it's "too bushy" and makes me look "mean", so positive comments are much appreciated.

As I understand it, the Verdi style is short on the sides and longer on the circle beard and chin areas.  I plan to let it get an inch or two longer.  My office is pretty conservative, so I probably won't go any longer than that and may not make it that far.

My old avatar was from 2006.  That was my natural color back then.  It was the only digital photo I had of myself bearded at the time I loaded it.  The hair on my head is still very dark brown with grey only in the lower part of my sideburns, but my beard has changed a lot over the last seven years.

I tried beard dye several years ago and it burned my skin severely.  No more of that.  I didn't really like how it looked either, so grey it is.

Days of growing my beard
“Thus we have now for many centuries triumphed over nature to the extent of making certain secondary characteristics of the male (such as the beard) disagreeable to nearly all the females—and there is more in that than you might suppose.”  - Screwtape (a senior demon),  The Screwtape Letters (1942) by C. S. Lewis
