Your beard is looking great! Your mustache/connector/goatee area is very reminiscent of Azio's - very strong and well-defined, so I encourage you to take a look at his thread.

I can't encourage you enough to follow Oly's advice about the mustache. I was having the same problem as you until I finally just let it grow, dealt with chewing hair and getting my bottom lip poked to all hell for a couple of weeks, and then, finally, having it long enough to keep brushed to the side. Keep the faith, it really does work (well, for most of us, that is).

Thanks for the compliments, Tom, I really appreciate it.

I just dug up Azio's thread, it's a good one. It's really helpful to see others going through the same struggles. I'd never think Azio would have any doubts about his beard, it looks fantastic! It's a great example of us being our own harshest critics.

I don't think I have it in me to stop being overly critical (unless I remove all the mirrors from my house) but I could exercise a bit more optimism and patience.

In fact, screw it, I'm growing a beard! I was going for an 8 week goal initially but I quickly pushed that out to 12 weeks (24-Oct-2013) after reading a few threads here. However, I'd really like to show it off to my friends and family back home (I'm an expatriate in Ireland) and I won't make it back there until the beginning of January. I think that is a proper goal and at the end of it I'll feel satisfied that I'll know what my beard looks like. In my opinion that's an experience every man deserves.

Wish me luck and stay tuned. I'll be here often as I'm sure my resolve will wane from time to time.

Jon
