Thanks for the comments. Yes at the moment I've just left everything natural, (save for 4 or 5 errant hairs high on the cheek), as I'd read here that leaving establishing a neck line until later was a good idea. After reading other posts on the site though I'd decided to have a look at establishing a neck line tonight or tomorrow morning anyway as I figure the neck at least is full enough to do so at this stage. I've seen a diagram somewhere round here, (I think), that I thought I'd follow and figure I'll try with a low one at first which I can always easily raise later in the month if I feel it doesn't look right to me. The neck line as it is now is pretty much level with the top of my collar so it only needs to come up a little way to avoid the problem you describe.

And yes, I'm aiming for a full beard, though with trimmed neck line. Depending on how well it fills out I was going to look at a fairly well groomed, trimmed beard though looking at the cheeks at this stage I might have to leave it a little longer than I envisaged to ensure good coverage. Come to think of it I'm not even exactly sure how short the hairs are on a the well trimmed beards I've seen... I'll have to see how it pans out and do some experimenting.

The colour itself doesn't really bother me that much. Just one of those things that make you say "damnit" then move on with your life - the flash photography makes it look worse than it is in any event.

And apologies to the OP - I didn't intend to hijack his thread, though I suppose any comments to me are probably pretty relevant to him too.
